Rodney Blosser

Rodney Glenn Blosser, 59, of Monumental and formerly of Fairview, went to be with the Lord Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2013), at Fairmont General Hospital.

He was born to Glenn W. Blosser and Bonnie Parker Blosser on June 9, 1954, in Follansbee. On July 20, 1974, Rodney married the love of his life, Brenda Glover Blosser, with whom he had two children, Courtney and Chris.

In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Beth Blosser Moore; and his mother-in-law, Doris Layman.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda, of 39 years; daughter, Courtney; son, Chris, and Chris’s wife Colleen; three grandchildren, Chase, Addison and Lexi Blosser; brother, Henry Blosser, and Henry’s wife Karen of Fairmont; brother, Jerry Blosser, and Jerry’s wife Gina of Greer, S.C.; brother-in-law, Gregory Moore of West Milford; three nieces and two nephews.

Rodney was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend to all. He loved being with his family and took pride in sharing family traditions. Rodney enjoyed taking family vacations and adored spending time with his children and grandchildren, most recently over the Thanksgiving holiday in San Diego, Calif. He loved to hunt and fish with Chris and to visit Courtney at her home in Charlotte, N.C. Rodney also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, and going to their sporting and band events.

Rodney was a faithful Christian and a member of Punkin Center Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and taught Bible study classes. He was an electrician with IBEW Local 596 and part owner of F.K. Everest Electrical Contractor, where he worked for 37 years. As a project manager, he was a master of his craft and enjoyed teaching and mentoring the next generation of electricians. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for Fairview Volunteer Fire Department and paramedic for both Fairview and the Marion County Rescue Squad for more than 20 years. Rodney enjoyed hunting and fishing, working on cars and computers, and helping family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 to 8 p.m on Friday. The body will lie in state at the Punkin Center Church of Christ in Fairview from 11 to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The funeral service will be held in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday, with Evangelist Mark Jones officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Benefield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the West Virginia Christian Youth Camp, the American Heart Association or the National Youth Hunting Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of hunting and conservation through our youth.
