Leona Helen Vasicek Stevenski, 101, of Grafton, died Friday (June 7, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital.
She was born Sept. 11, 1911, in Grafton, a daughter of the late Carl J. Vasicek and Leona Orfanus Vasicek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Paul Stevenski, on Nov. 5, 1990.
She is survived by one son, Andy Junior Stevenski of Monongah; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Nucilli of Elkins; a brother, Edward Vasicek of Rivesville; two sisters, Elizabeth Chapman of Bridgeport and Anna Lough of Fairmont; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Stevenski was preceded in death by a son, Carl Frances Stevenski; three brothers, Carl, Lewis and George Vasicek; two sisters, Rose Deering and Emma Vasicek; and a great-grandson, Matthew Barr.
Leona was a retired seamstress from the Grafton Apparel Co. with 23 years of service. She was a homemaker and member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fairmont. She enjoyed playing cards, loved her flowers and gardening, sitting on her porch bird watching, cooking and making desserts, going to lunch with friends, traveling on family visits and watching her favorite television show, “Jeopardy.”

The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 4-7 p.m. Sunday. A Catholic Vigil Service will be recited in the funeral home Sunday at 7 p.m. with Father Manikyalarao Penumaka, HGN, and Sister Stella Cronauer, CSJ, officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Church, 329 Maryland Ave., Fairmont, with Father Manikyalarao Penumaka, HGN, as celebrant. The committal service will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens.
