Moran Green

Moran Marie Green, of Fairmont, passed away Sunday (June 9, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital.

She was born in Plattsburg, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Gideon Green.

Moran was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Walt Green of Fairmont, and Michael Green and his wife Stacy of Fairmont; six grandchildren, Andrew Green, Mollie Green, Kristina Green, Leeann Green, Madison Green and Kennedy Green; and one great-granddaughter, Lucy Cain.

Also surviving is her companion, William Hanning; three brothers, Philip Latour, Havey Latour and Leonard Latour; two sisters, Sally Poulton and Mary Poulton, all of New York; and a daughter-in-law, Lori Green of Fairmont.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, George Green III; and a brother, Carl Latour.

In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, her body will be cremated.

Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, has been entrusted with arrangements.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
