Howard Junior Taylor, 72, of Clarksburg, passed unexpectedly Saturday (July 6, 2013) at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 13, 1941, in Rymer, son of the late Howard Franklin and Lilly Myrtle Gill Taylor.
He had a long and distinguished career in the U.S. Army, from which he retired with more than 20 years of service in 1978 as a sergeant first class.
After retirement, he went to work for the Electrolux company, first as a salesman and then as manager of the Fairmont, Clarksburg and Parkersburg branches.
He is survived by his wife, Christl Ruth Eckstein Taylor, of 43 years; two children, Nora Ruth Taylor of Clarksburg, and Dennis Howard Taylor and wife Courtney of Mannington; two grandchildren, Taliah and Lindsey; and one brother, Charles Taylor and wife Betty of Mannington.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Melinda Jane Taylor.
Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Route 98, Clarksburg, from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday. Military graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday from the West Virginia National Cemetery with the Rev. Clifton Light officiating, and the Harrison County and the Army Honor Guard.
