Richard “Rick” Eakle

Richard “Rick” Eakle, 42, of Shinnston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (Feb. 6, 2013) at his home.

He was born on July 22, 1970, in Fairmont, a son of Ronald Forrest and Brenda Sue Wilfong Eakle, who survive him.

In addition to his parents, Rick is survived by his wife, Iva Eakle; his daughter, Cassandra Eakle of Morgantown; his son, Rick Eakle of Wyatt; grandchildren, Gabrial Eakle and Damien Wright; sister, Melissa Eakle of Front Royal, Va.; and brother, Ronnie Eakle of Morgantown.

Rick was preceded in death by his grandmother, Velma Wilfong, and grandfather, Farel Eakle.

He served our country in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. Rick was employed at Precision Hydraulics since 1996. He enjoyed and was very dedicated to his job. He loved to hunt and fish.

Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, on Monday from 4-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Sandy officiating. Interment will follow at the Mannington Memorial Park.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
