Richard Wehner

Richard K. Wehner, 56, of Kingwood, died Monday (June 16, 2014).

He was born in Kingwood, on Dec. 15, 1957, to Jerry P. Wehner and the late Charles V. Wehner.

He grew up in Kingwood and graduated from Kingwood High School. He was active in the Boy Scouts, where he was an Eagle Scout, vigil member, Order of the Arrow and a Philmont Ranger. He was an altar boy at St. Sebastian Catholic Church..

He graduated from West Virginia University, B.A. cum laude with majors in anthropology and philosophy, in 1979, where he was active with the WVU German Club and the Honors Program. He received his J.D. from the Catholic University Law School, Washington, D.C., in 1982. He joined his father at Wehner Law Offices, Kingwood, and was licensed to practice in West Virginia, Maryland and D.C.

He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, and had been a member of the Moose Lodge, Terra Alta, and West Virginians for Life, Maryland State Bar Association, West Virginia State Bar, West Virginia Bar Association, Washington, D.C., Bar Association and Preston County Bar Association.

He is survived by his mother, Jerry P. Wehner of Kingwood; sisters, Pamela A. Wehner of Rogers, Arkansas, and Patricia J. Wehner of Birmingham, Alabama; and a brother, Charles C. Wehner (Gail E.) of Los Angeles, California. He is also survived by nieces, Amanda M. Wehner of Arlington, Virginia, and Emilie Charles and Olivia Charles of Huntington; and a nephew, Matthew V. Wehner of San Francisco, California.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles V. Wehner, and a brother, Stephen V. Wehner.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Browning Funeral Home, with vigil service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sebastian Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday with Father Andrew Switzer as celebrant. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Kingwood.
