Robin Kay Straight, 56, of Monongah, passed away Wednesday (Feb. 12, 2014) at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born in Fairmont on Nov. 27, 1957, a daughter of the late James O. and Pearl Loraine (Hinerman) Straight.
Robin worked as a social studies instructor. She had most recently worked at Fazio’s Elder Care Home in Monongah. She was a graduate of Monongah High School, Fairmont State University and received her master’s degree in social studies from West Virginia University.
She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was a faithful community servant, volunteering her time with Main Street Fairmont, The Fairmont Arc as well as several other local organizations. She loved spending time with her dog, Nicky.
She is survived by her brother, James H. Straight and his wife Charlene of Grafton; two aunts, Janice McIntire of Enterprise and Lucille Strait; a special nephew, William J. Straight and his wife Natalie of Prairieville, La.; a great-nephew, William J. Straight II; two special cousins, Florence Blocker of Fairmont and Minnie Harbert and her husband Dave of Idamay; as well as several other cousins.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 5-8 p.m. Monday and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Hal Hevener officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Masonic Cemetery in Shinnston.
