Charles Lee Harris, 90, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (Feb. 13, 2014) at the Genesis Fairmont Campus Tygart Center.
Mr. Harris was born Sept. 23, 1923, a son of the late Wilson Alonzo and Flora Eva White Harris. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zora Eva Perpich Harris.
Mr. Harris was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a 1941 graduate of East Fairmont High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Charles retired as a refrigeration and building/grounds mechanic for Philip’s Lighting Co. after 43 years of service. He was an avid golfer at Tygart Lake Country Club, Paradise Lake and White Day Golf Clubs.
Mr. Harris is survived by a daughter, Patricia Harris of Fairmont; his son, Robert Harris and his wife Adriann of Sterling, Va.; his granddaughter, Jennifer Lowndes of Canada; two great-grandchildren, Caroline Lowndes and Christopher Lowndes of Philadelphia, Pa.; as well as William Bladen Lowndes IV’s wife, Michelle Lowndes of Philadelphia, Pa.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Zora Eva Perpich Harris; a daughter, Donna Lowndes; a grandson, William Bladen Lowndes IV; and his brothers, Harry and Richard Harris.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church, 329 Maryland Ave., Fairmont, with Father Walter Jagela as celebrant. A committal service will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont.
