Betty Lynch

Betty Ann Kerr Lynch, born April 13, 1932, went to the Lord on Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014) after complications from a second open-heart surgery.

Betty was born in Harding to the late the Rev. William Kerr and the late Tocie Morris Kerr. She was the librarian at Morgantown High School in Morgantown and Aberdeen Senior High School in Aberdeen, Md.

She is survived by her daughter, Olive Lynch of Plainfield, N.J., and her son, Patrick Merle Lynch (wife Marinete Medeiros) of Orlando, Fla., and sons William and Nathan. Betty Ann is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Whitely (late husband Greyson) of Kingsville, Md., and Sarah Lee (late husband Walter) of Huntingdon Valley, Pa.; her brothers, William Andrew (wife Betsy McMillin) of Indianapolis, Ind.; the Rev. James (wife Carolyn DeVault) of Fairmont, and Joseph Richard (wife Carole Stevenson) of Boston, Mass.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from noon-1 p.m. Saturday. A Celebration of Life service will be at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. A private interment will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Farmington.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
