Roger Fluharty

Roger Dale Fluharty, 69, of Rachel, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 14, 2014), at West Virginia University’s Ruby Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 6, 1944, at Mohan’s Run, a son of the late Francis Fluharty and Bessie Starkey Fluharty.

Roger is survived by three daughters, Angel Closson and husband John of Fairmont, Beth Pruitte and husband Todd of Fairmont, and Charity Moore and husband Breed of Fairmont; 10 grandchildren, Cameron, Abbagail, Mykayla, Jordan, Owen, Isabella, Breed, Bella, Kierra and Patience; siblings, Gary and Beverly Fluharty of Rachel, Joyce Fluharty of Mannington, Crystal Rowand and companion Robert “Buzz” Hillberry, Shiela Earl and her husband Gary Earl of Mannington, and Allen Fluharty and companion Jan Triplett of Mannington; two brothers-in-law, Bob Jones of Mohan’s Run and Emerson Minor of Ohio; one sister-in-law, Sandy Fluharty of Virginia; former wife and mother of his children, Doris Stuckey of Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Arianna Moore; two sisters, Kay Jones and Sharon Minor; and two brothers, Raymond Fluharty and Cecil Fluharty.

Roger was employed by CW Stickley in Fairmont as a truck driver for many years. He was a United States Navy veteran. He was a member of the Rachel Sportsman Club. Roger enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler, working in his garden, shooting his guns and hunting.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. today at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, with Pastor Lee Bowman officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the United States Navy and the Marion County Veterans Council. Burial will follow at Viewpoint Cemetery.

Sam was born on Nov. 13, 1920, in Fairmont, the son of the late Vincent and Maria (Galiano) Pellerite. He was the loving husband of the late Teresa Mae “Terry” (Cirillo) Pellerite.
