Ethel V. Towns (nee Wolfe), 67, passed from the arms of her loved ones into the loving arms of the Lord on Sunday (Jan. 19, 2014), following a courageous 22-year battle with cancer, surrounded by her family at home.
Ethel was born June 7, 1946, in Thornton. In her teen years she was named Miss Fairmont. In 1964 she married her husband James and moved to Elyria, Ohio.
She was employed at Drug Mart in Elyria for 19 years until being forced to retire due to her illness. She attended East Fairmont High School in Fairmont. Ethel loved to take long walks in the neighborhood, playing bingo, going to Internet cafes, playing slot games, and most of all loved traveling to Las Vegas with her husband James.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, James; three daughters, Kimberly J. Towns, Deanna L. (Sean) Sutorius and Kelly A. (Mark) Briggs, all of Elyria; grandchildren, Brittney M. Butler, Marissa E. Briggs, Colin J. Sutorius, Madison A. Briggs, Kennedy P. Sutorius and Delaney A. Towns; great-grandsons, Nicholaus J. Butler, Braylon H. Morgan and Gavin L. Morgan; brothers, Robert (Lee) Wolfe of Bremerton, Wash., and Dorsey D. Wolfe of Elyria; and one sister, Bonnie (Tom) Tucker of Charlotte, N.C.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Schoonover in 2012; and her parents, Dorsey D. Wolfe in 1948 and Bertha B. Towns (nee Larew) in 1992.
At the request of the family, no services will be held.
