Nancy Kay Cann, 63, of Galveston, Texas, and formerly of Fairmont passed away Sunday (Jan. 19, 2014) at UTMB in Galveston, Texas.
She was born in Fairmont on Feb. 2, 1950.
Nancy was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and Fairmont State College, receiving her degree in home economics. She was a special education teacher at Santa Fe ISD in Texas for 20 years and recently retired.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dr. Anthony J. Cann Jr., three sons, Brian Cann and his wife Lisa, Anthony Cann and Justin Cann; five grandchildren, Joseph Danesi, Katie Danesi, Marie Cann, Jack Cann and Hailey Cann; her mother, Mary Kay Urso and her husband Frank A. Urso of Fairmont; her mother-in-law, Margaret Cann of Clarksburg; a brother, Billy Haddox and his wife Donna; a sister, Sally Marie Morgan and her husband Rick; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lemley and Sallie Tennant.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Friday from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 12 p.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Mayfield officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
Serving as pallbearers will be Troy Haddox, Doug Smith, Josh Morgan, Dr. Aaron Matlock, Albert Chamberlain and Joseph Danesi.
