James Feltz

James Patrick Feltz, 64, of Barrackville, passed from this life Tuesday (Jan. 21, 2014) at his residence after a long and valiant struggle with cancer.

Jim was born Nov. 9, 1949, in Fairmont, a son of Edith Mezzanotte Feltz and the late Joseph Rock Feltz.

A 1967 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, Jim attended Fairmont State College before joining the Fairmont Police Department, where he served from 1971 to 1975. While serving as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard, Jim was also owner of the Penn Avenue Sub Shop until 1977. Jim went on to be elected magistrate for Marion County, a position he held from 1977 to 1988. Most recently, he worked as a salesman for Urse Dodge in Fairmont.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Crystal Kaznoski Feltz; their children, Natalie (husband Randy Watson), Kendra, Samantha, Angela and Jamie; James Patrick II (wife Chasta), Talia, and their mother DeDe; and four grandchildren, Bella Haught, Preslynn Feltz, Pierson Davis and Jordan Witherspoon. Jim also leaves behind his brother, Joseph (wife Sally), and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, James was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Pete Kaznoski, and an infant sister, Charlotte.

An outgoing, charismatic person, Jim liked nothing better than sitting down with a cup of coffee and a group of friends. An avid sportsman with a special affinity for his beloved Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, he sponsored and managed the Penn Avenue Fast Pitch Softball League during the 70s and 80s.

His love and concern for others was always at the forefront of his actions, and he lived his life with passion for his family and friends. Jim truly never met a stranger. He will be sadly missed by all.

Friends may call at Domico Funeral Home in Fairmont Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Deacon David Lester officiating. Burial will follow immediately after at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Online condolence may be made to the family at The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice Care Corporation for their care and support.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
