Betty June Napolitano

Our beloved mother Betty June (nee Phillips) Napolitano, aka “Rebel,” 87, of Mahwah, N.J., formerly of Fairmont, passed away on Tuesday (July 9, 2013).

She was born on Jan. 16, 1926, in Fairmont, daughter of the late James Roy and Dorothy Triplett Phillips.

She is survived by her three children, Nancy, Paul and Sam; and four grandchildren, Paul Jr., Aaron, Caitlyn and Courtney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam P. Napolitano, on June 11, 2013.

Our mom will be sorely missed and she will always be remembered for her CAN DO ANYTHING attitude. She will also be remembered for her “nothing is out of your reach if you work hard enough and want it enough” work ethic, which she had instilled in all of us.

Our mom was originally from Fairmont and her family dates all the way back to the Pilgrim days. She was an amazing interior decorator, a talented business woman, paralegal, a state champion ATA trap shooter and an amazing mom. WE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU MOM.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. today at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, N.J. After which, Mrs. Napolitano will be brought back to Fairmont for a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Watson with Fr. Steve Joseph as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Fraternal Cemetery in Belington.

Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, is in charge of local arrangements.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
