Jerry Louis Sabo, 69, of Colfax, passed away suddenly on Saturday (July 13, 2013) at his residence.
He was born on July 28, 1943, in Greenwood, Miss., a son of the late Louis Charles and Lora Alice Calahan Sabo.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda Hughes Sabo.
Also surviving are his children, Sherri Couch and husband Tim of Willis, Mich., Jeff Sabo and wife Holly of Milan, Mich., Trudie Dugan of Plano, Texas, Mathew and Anja Weber-Sabo of Germany, Kim Minor of Arizona, Tim Capelle of Fairmont, Lisa Booth and husband Dan of Worthington, and Emily Bickerstaff of Fairmont; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as his brother, Kenny Sabo; and his sisters, Marsha Hay and Lana Bunner, all of Fairmont.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Jerry Sabo Jr. and Gregory Sabo.
Mr. Sabo was employed by Southern Coal Co.’s Martinka Mines and the Ford plant in Ypsilanti, Mich. Later in life, Jerry was very proud to be a full-time substitute teacher for Marion County Schools. He was a member of the Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Worthington and the Real Life Church in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Friends will be received at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God (Route 19 at Swisher Hill) on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Shuttlesworth officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
