Helen Marchiny

Helen Retton Marchiny, 83, of Millville, New Jersey, died unexpectedly Monday (June 16, 2014) at Cooper University Hospital, Camden, New Jersey.

Born in Monongah, Helen had been a resident of Millville, New Jersey, for more than 56 years. Prior to retirement, Helen worked in the Millville school system as a cafeteria worker for 19 years.

She was a longtime and active member of St. Mary Magdalen RCC (Parish of All Saints) for 56 years. She enjoyed going to the casinos and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Frank, of 56 years; two daughters, Brenda Myers (Steve) and Kimberly Scacco (Robert), all of Millville, New Jersey; grandson, Stevie Myers and girlfriend Samantha Busch of Bridgeton, New Jersey; brother, Anthony Retton of Eugene, Oregon; two sisters, Anna Schirripa of Shinnston and Rosalie Carter of Clarksburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Joann (Conge) Retton; brothers, John, Sammy, Frank, Joe and Roman Retton; and sister, Theresa Leonard.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in the Parish of All Saints (St. Mary’s). Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Viewings will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday in Rocap Shannon Memorial Funeral Home.
