Raymond Edward Benson, 50, of Clarksburg and formerly of Fairmont, passed from this life on Tuesday (Jan. 14, 2014) at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport following a brief illness.
He was born in Marion County, on Feb. 12, 1963, a son of Raymond Benson of Florida and the late Jessie (Eckles) Benson.
Raymond was a quiet man. If he chose you as a friend, he truly valued that friendship. In his younger years, he was an exceptional artist who could draw anything he put his mind to. He enjoyed collecting Marvel and DC comics. His favorite superheros were Batman, The Flash and The Hulk.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his brother, Steve Benson and his wife Macon of Elkton, Md.; his sister, Shelia Ledsome and her husband Cecil of Fairmont; and a niece and nephew.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sallie Ann Eckles.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Timothy Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Brummage Cemetery in Marion County.
The family would like to thank Nurse Gretchen at United Hospital Center for all of her wonderful help and support.
If desired, donations may be made to offset the cost of a memorial marker for Raymond to Shelia Ledsome, 711 Arch St., Fairmont, WV 26554.
