Darlene Kay Jones

Darlene Kay Jones, 64, of Farmington, died Sunday (Jan. 26th, 2014) after a long and courageous battle with COPD.  

She was born on Jan. 9, 1950, to the late Dixie and Foster Rinehart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Phillip William “Bailey” Rinehart.

She was survived by her husband, James “Jim” Jones; her son, Jayson Higgins and wife Patricia “Trish” Higgins; granddaughters, Ashlee Higgins and Delaney Higgins; sister, Sandra Moore and brother-in-law Johnny Moore; sister, Rhonda Postlethwait; brother, Terry Rinehart and sister-in-law Charlotte Rinehart; nephews, Jeffrey Moore, Nicholas Postlethwait, Samuel Postlethwait, Cody Postlethwait and Michael Rinehart; and nieces, Lisa Mock, Dorothea “DJ” Tustin, Janie Moore and Christy Hayes.

Darlene was a loving mother and grandmother. She is remembered by her family and friends as quick-witted and always had a good time making everyone laugh.  She loved family gatherings and crazy-adventurous beach trips with her best girlfriends, Debbie Davis, Joyce Williams, Jeannie Weaver and Brenda Coburn.

She was a huge fan of her husband’s music and several of his band friends; she was a “roadie” at most of their band performances over the years. She also enjoyed bowling with more friends than I can mention and spent most Thursday nights for years making memories at Mid-City Bowling Alley with them.

She was a huge WVU and Steelers fan, and spent many hours yelling at the TV and cheering them on! Darlene was an animal lover and had many “fur-babies” over the years. She left behind her latest “fur-babies,” Molly and Nosey, who loved her unconditionally and made being stuck inside more bearable.  

We cannot thank Jim Jones enough for the love and support he has given her as a husband. He sacrificed a lot to care for her and to be there for anything she has needed, especially through the illness that has taken her life. She loved Jim and appreciated his time and unconditional love more than can be expressed, as do her entire family and all of her friends.  

Per Darlene’s wishes there will be no funeral and no memorial. We will hold a “Celebration of Life” for her at a later date. Details will be posted on her and her son, Jayson’s Facebook page. Darlene wanted to be remembered for the good times and happy days and for us to celebrate together while remembering her. Please celebrate every day you are given; it is a gift from the good Lord above.
