Vesta Lee Fortney, 86, of Enterprise, passed away Wednesday (Jan. 29, 2014), at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Jan. 5, 1928, at Bices Run in Harrison County, a daughter of the late Samuel E. and Willa Mae Miller Campbell.
Vesta was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Z. Fortney; and her daughter, Donna Lee Yost.
She is survived by her son, Samuel E. Fortney and his wife Cindy of Worthington; her grandchildren, Jeremy Fortney and wife Abbey of Shinnston, Chelsey Fortney of Enterprise, Kenneth Mick his wife Kimberly of Shinnston, Sherry Cummings and husband Chad of Shinnston, and Charles “Donny” Yost and wife Nicole of Bridgeport; her great-grandchildren, Gracy Fortney, Madelyn Fortney, Baylea Grogg, Curtis Gilbert, Maverick Mick, Carter Mick and Kaylee Yost, Hannah Cummings and Lee Ann Cummings; as well as her son-in-law, Charles Yost of Enterprise.
Vesta was also preceded in death by her sisters, Betty J. Wilmoth and husband Ed, and June E. Bowers and husband Gene; and her brother, Richard “Ted” Campbell.
Vesta was employed at Owens-Illinois. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics and puzzle books. She also loved to cook and bake for her family.
Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. with Pastor Josh Helmick officiating, and cremation will follow.
