Tom Arnold

John T. “Tom” Arnold, 74, of Hillview Terrace, Enterprise, passed away at 7 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 1, 2014), at the Louis A. Johnson VAMC in Clarksburg.

He was born in Athens, Ohio, May 21, 1939, a son of the late Castor and Geraldine Revels Arnold.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Sue Davidson Arnold, whom he married Jan. 20, 1961. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Leah Moyer and her husband Douglas, and Debra Simmons, all of Shinnston; two granddaughters, Shannon Moyer of Morgantown, and Danielle Wilson and her husband Jamie of West Union; two grandsons, Josh Simmons and his wife Jayne, and Joey Simmons, all of Shinnston; and two great-grandsons, Mason and Alex Wilson.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having also been preceded in death by one brother, Fred Arnold, and one sister Imogene Coe.

Tom worked as a heavy equipment operator out of the IUOE Local No. 132 in Clarksburg. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

Friends may call the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 South Pike St., Shinnston, from 5 to 8 p.m. today, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with pastor Ruth Fogel officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
