Rex Amos

Rex R. Amos, 83, of Pine Tree Lane, Morgantown, passed away at his residence Feb. 3, 2014.

Rex Rodolpha was born in Fairmont on Nov. 14, 1930, the son of the late Willis Amos and Maggie (Reese) Amos.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen; and three brothers, Roy, Robert and Raymond.

He is survived by his sons, David M. and wife Ronita of Kuwait City, Kuwait, Keith R. and wife Mary of Berryville, Va., and Kevin D. and Sandy Mills of Morgantown. He was also proud of his six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He attended East Fairmont High School and graduated from West Virginia University. He also retired from WVU after 35 years of service. He loved fishing and hunting and was an avid Mountaineer fan and supporter. He was also involved in area scouting for more than 30 years.

On Saturday, family and friends will be received at Goshen Baptist Church, Goshen Road, near Morgantown, from 10 a.m. to noon, with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating a memorial at noon. Dinner will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Rex to the Mountaineer Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, 1832 Speedway Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554.

Hastings Funeral Home of Morgantown is assisting the family with the arrangements.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
