Helen Cecelia Manzo, 91, of Monongah passed away on Friday (Feb. 14, 2014) at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home.
She was born in Pennsylvania on May 12, 1922, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Wawgyniak Vanet.
Helen retired from St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home with 31 years of service as a kitchen assistant, and was also a former employee of Westinghouse. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a member of the ladies society. She was an avid fan of Mountaineer sports and bingo.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie and son-in-law Greg Vandetta of Monongah; her son, Ron and daughter-in-law Janice of Morgantown; sister, Josephine Vitale of New York; sisters-in-law, Mary Vanet, Minia Manzo and Dolores Manzo; grandchildren, Jessica and Sean Eddy, Greg II and Janelle Vandetta, Bethany and Matt VanGilder, Evan Manzo, Andrew Manzo, Aaron Manzo and fiance Sue Mi Kim, Ashley Manzo and husband Beau Frum, and Jared Manzo and girlfriend Amelia Martin; great-grandchildren, Kiegan Manzo, Tripp Manzo, Oliver Frum, Jacob Eddy, Landon Eddy, Macy Eddy and Drake VanGilder.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Manzo; brothers, Jess Vanet and Ben Vanet; sisters, Julia Falarski and Stella Ozie.
Family and friends may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah with Father Richard Ulam O.S.B. as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Monongah. A Vigil service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. with Deacon Lou Belldino officiating.
