Albert Tapp

Albert D. “Pete” Tapp, 79, of Louisville, Ohio, passed away Sunday (Feb. 16, 2014) in Canton, Ohio.

He was born July 30, 1934, to the late Charles and Pearl (Waters) Tapp in Mannington.

He was a member of the Louisville Church of Christ. Al was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was retired from the Timken Co. after 38 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Geraldine “Gerry” Tapp; his son, Scott Alan Tapp of Louisville; two granddaughters, Jennifer Tapp of Arizona and Madison Tapp of Barbarton, Ohio; three brothers, John Tapp of Massillon, Ohio; Frank Tapp of Mannington and Robert Tapp of Monroe, N.C.; two sisters, Lena McMurray of Bethel Park, Pa., and Betty J. Cain of Fairmont; and a brother and sister-in-law, Russ and Sandy Glover.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Tapp; two sisters, Helen Rush and Barbara Moore; two brothers-in-law, Gordon Rush and Kenneth McMurray; and five sisters-in-law, Wanda Tapp, Murial Tapp, Lillian Moore, Charolette Tapp and Marlena Tapp.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Louisville Church of Christ with Mr. Brian Grubbs officiating. Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville and one hour before services at the church Thursday. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Garden, Canton, Ohio.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
