Amy Genora Chiera Cunningham, 77, of Barrackville, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2014) at her daughter’s residence.
She was born April 13, 1936, in Haywood, a daughter of the late James and Lula Jane Swiger Chiera. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Cunningham, who died May 31, 2013.
Mrs. Cunningham was formerly employed by the Westinghouse Corp. of Fairmont, and retired as a sales associated from Walmart. She was Protestant by faith, and a 1954 graduate of Barrackville High School.
Amy was a member of the board of directors for the Greater Marion-Taylor USBC Bowling Association. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter and friends, and traveling to national bowling tournaments.
Amy is survived by her daughter, Regina Cunningham Ogden of Barrackville; her brother, James F. Chiera of Madison; a sister, Novella F. Drazba of Madison; a special sister-in-law, Shelvy Cunningham of Worthington; and special friends, Sandy Musgrove, Sue Rowley and Shirley Boord, all of Fairmont.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cunningham was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Cunningham; two sisters, Roberta Chiera and Ruth Santy; and her son-in-law, Robert Allen Ogden II.
The family would like to thank Hospice Care Corp. for their love, care and support, and also special caregivers, Lovonna Ledsome and Bonnie Brown.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, and from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Marvin Frankhouser officiating. A committal service will follow at Shinnston Masonic Cemetery in Shinnston.
