Martin Windon

Martin Ward Windon, 91, of West Milford, passed away Monday (Feb. 24, 2014) at Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

He was born in West Milford on July 1, 1922, the son of the late James Earl Windon and Malissa A. Ward Windon.

He was a graduate of Unidis High School, Salem College and had a master’s degree from WVU. He was a retired teacher, having taught 31 years at Cowen, Unidis and South Harrison.

In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by one brother, Denzil Windon, and one sister, Irene VanScoy.

He is survived by one son, M. Keith Windon, OD; one sister, Eleanor Westfall and husband Paul of Parkersburg; one brother, Harry Windon and wife Shirley of Fairmont; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Martin was a Methodist by faith.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, Route 98, Clarksburg, from 5-8 p.m. today. Services will be held in Davis Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Hal J. Heavener presiding. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, West Milford.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
