Thelma Ravenscroft

Thelma I. Ravenscroft, 95, of Paw Paw Creek Road, Grant Town, passed away Tuesday evening (Feb. 25, 2014) in her residence.   

She was born May 9, 1918, in Wyatt, daughter of the late James and Bertha Freeman Ray.   

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Paul Ravenscroft, who died in 1980.   

Mrs. Ravenscroft was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church in Grant Town, and Welcome Baptist  Church in Chesapeake. She loved to crochet and enjoyed the outdoors.   

Survivors include a son, Richard Allen Ravenscroft of Ketstone Community; a very close friend and caregiver, Eileen Knotts of Fairview; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.   

She was preceded in death by a son, James Homer Hess, who died in 1993; a daughter, Paulette Jean Robinson, who died in 1973; three brothers, James Ray Jr., Orgie Ray and Joe Ray; and three sisters, Mary Helms, Ellen Huffman and Ethel Ray.

Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, and 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastors Paul Mitchell and Nelson E. Staples III officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.   

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Welcome Baptist Church, 51 Linear St., Fairmont, WV 26554.
