Wanda Anderson

Wanda “Granny” Anderson, 86, of Fairmont, passed away at 4 p.m. Friday (Sept. 27, 2013) at the Arbors in Fairmont.

She was born in Cottageville, Oct. 23, 1926, a daughter of the late Clinton and Lilly Bowers Herdman. On Sept. 5, 1944, she was married to William Edward Anderson, who passed away Dec. 5, 1994.

Surviving are three children, Paul Edward Anderson and his wife Linda, Koon’s Run, Catherine Ann Ashcraft and her husband Terry, Saltwell, and William Edward Anderson and his wife Brenda, Koon’s Run; one daughter-in-law, Kimberly Anderson, Koon’s Run; 12 grandchildren, Paul Anderson Jr. and his wife Amey, Worthington, Melinda Holbert and her husband Billy Joe, Koon’s Run, Monica Thompson and her fiancé Seth Manley, Larry Anderson Jr. and Kenneth Anderson, all of Everson, Michelle Clemens and her husband Dave, Farmington, Jessica Anderson, Koon’s Run, Annette Ash and her husband Bobby, Clarksburg, Melissa Ashcraft and Shannon Wyant, Tenn., Shawn Anderson and his wife Chrissy, Chris Anderson and his wife Chasity, Trey Anderson, all of Koon’s Run; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Larry Anderson.

She was the eldest member of the Victor Chapel United Methodist Church, Enterprise. She loved going to church, sending cards and baking for her church family.

Friends may call at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, also at the Perine Funeral Home, with Pastors Brian Plum and Craig Blankenship officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Enterprise.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
