Theresa “Terry” Carlone Parker Harpool, 96, died at Emeritus of Ocala West, Ocala, Fla., on Friday (Sept. 27, 2013) after a one-year illness.
Born Oct. 12, 1916, in Fairmont, daughter of the late Alphonse and Philomena Feltz Carlone, she attended St. Peters Catholic School and Fairmont State College. In 1940 she married John O’Pearson Parker (deceased 1988). They moved to Parkersburg in 1950, where they raised their four children.
In 2000 she married Charles Harpool, who preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Steven M. Hale; one sister, Margaret Carlone Howes; and two brothers, Anthony Carlone and Carmen Carlone.
She is survived by her four children, John P. and wife Bonnie Parker of Chapel Hill, N.C., Patricia A. Bowie of Clearwater, Fla., Robert L. and wife Rondelle Parker of Amarillo, Texas, and Mary Lou and husband Mark Hale of Dunnellon, Fla.; grandchildren, Amanda and husband Dan Harder, Courtney and husband Nick Buysee, Garrick Bowie, Stephen Bowie and wife Dawn, Thomas Parker and wife Sandy, Tracy Parker, and Dana Hale and husband Doug Perrone; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Julia Carlone Cinalli; a brother, Richard Carlone; and many nieces and nephews.
Prior to moving to Florida in 2003, she was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and active in the Sanctuary Society. She was also an active member of the Women’s Association at the Worthington Golf Course.
She loved playing bridge, dancing and golf. In her 90s, she danced at the weddings of her grandchildren. She continued golfing into her late 80s.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2500 Dudley Ave., Parkersburg. Friends will be received by the family immediately after the service in the parish hall.
