— George Loeffelbein, 79, of Fairmont, passed away Friday (April 12, 2013) at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland Ohio.

He was born Feb. 6, 1934, in Monongah, son of the late George Sr. and Agnes (Lane) Loeffelbein.

George was retired from Consolidated Coal Co., Robinson Run mine, was a member of the UMWA Local No. 1501, and attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Fairmont. He enjoyed wood working, was an avid bicyclist and cook, and loved to restore automobiles.

George is survived by his wife, Alice Louise (Edwards) Loeffelbein; six children, Vicki Wright and husband Jim of Fairmont, Cheryl Miller and husband Chuck of Mount Clair, Cathy Reitkovich and husband Rick of Bridgeport, Karl Loeffelbein and wife Kellie of Pittsburgh, George A. Loeffelbein and wife Kelly of Pittsburgh, and John Loeffelbein and wife Lisa of Morgantown; 15 grandchildren, Leigh Ann Tennant and husband Chris, Lori Toothman and husband Willie, Shelly Lehew and companion Mike Wilson, James R. Wright and wife Leslie, Janie Skinner and husband Derrick, Stacy Reitkovich, Alex Wright, Caitlin Miller, Kyler Loeffelbein, George Cole Loeffelbein, Kristin Loeffelbein, Jillian Loeffelbein, Laura Loeffelbein, Alison Loeffelbein and Sarah Loeffelbein; six great-grandchildren, Brittany, Audrey, Lily, Ian, MacKenzie and Allie; three brothers, Ed Loeffelbein of Mount Harmony, Alfred Loeffelbein of South Carolina and Fred Loeffelbein of Monongah; and one sister, Helen Smith of Fairmont.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Betty Loeffelbein, David Loeffelbein, Elenor Baker and Paul Loeffelbein; one grandchild, Angela Lehew; and one great-grandchild, Michael Anthony.

Friends and family may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Glenn Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Enterprise.
