Jane Dodd

Elizabeth Jane (Swisher) Dodd, 85, of White Hall and formerly of Fairview, passed away with her loving family by her side Saturday (Aug. 10, 2013) at The Meadows of Maplewood in Bridgeport.

She was the daughter of the late Dr. Kyle Young and Sue Swisher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Dodd, on Oct. 12, 1984.

Jane was a homemaker and mother. In earlier years she enjoyed playing golf, following WVU football games, playing cards, spending time at their camp in Petersburg, and extensive travel within the U.S. and abroad. She was a past volunteer at Fairmont General Hospital and Hope. She enjoyed watching grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sports and activities. Jane was a member of Eldora United Methodist Church and former member and Sunday school teacher at Asbury Methodist Church in Fairview.

She is survived by daughters, Jackie Pagliaro and husband Scott of Fairmont, and Judi Bennett and husband Jim of The Villages, Fla.; and a son, Jeff Dodd and wife Brenda of Rock Springs, Wyo. Jane was “CaCa” to six surviving grandchildren, Nicola Shepherd (Matthew) of Fairmont, Meghan Pagliaro and fiancé Josh Keough of Bridgeport, Steve Shoulders (Heather) of Jacksonville, N.C., Shawn Shoulders (Suzan) of Richlands, N.C., Mandy Greenhalgh (Blake) of Pinedale, Wyo., and Jamie Dodd of Green River, Wyo; and 11 great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Liam Shepherd of Fairmont, Austyn Pagliaro of Fairmont, Lexi and Stevie Shoulders of Jacksonville, N.C., Madison and Connor Shoulders of Richlands, N.C., Amaya, Orion and Odin Greenhalgh of Pinedale, Wyo., and Alexis Rogers of Green River, Wyo. Also surviving is a brother, Dr. Richard Swisher of San Antonio, Texas; a special “adopted” grandson, Denny Kerns of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Billy and Dr. Kyle Y. Swisher Jr.; and one grandson, Jereme “Pags” Pagliaro.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sandra Pedraza, Drs. Shocker, Pagano and Koliath, home caregivers, The Meadows caregivers and staff, U.S. Nursing Network caregivers and Amedisys Hospice Care during her illness, and also the Rev. John A. Barnes of Maplewood.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
