James Floyd Sr.

James O. Floyd Sr., 83, of Fairmont (Watson Community), passed from this life Wednesday (Dec. 18, 2013), at the Tygart Center Nursing Home.

He was born in Fairmont on Feb. 28, 1930, a son of the late Howard and Lucinda M. Rice Floyd.

Jim was an avid sports fan, and during his tenure at Fairmont State, served as the ticket taker for the basketball games. He had coached Babe Ruth League baseball for several of his younger years. More than anything else, he really enjoyed his family, dancing with his wife, daughters and granddaughters or playing with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was classified by his family as being the closest thing to the perfect “Popie” as any man could possibly be.
