Edna Hall

Edna Christine Hall, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (Dec. 19, 2013), at St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah.

She was born at Booth’s Creek in Taylor County, the 11th of 13 children, to the late Ira Judson and Mary “Molly” Angeline Tucker Currey.

Mrs. Hall was a retired registered nurse. She trained from Sept. 9, 1935 until Aug. 15, 1938, at the Fairmont Emergency Hospital on Columbia Street, Fairmont, and worked at area hospitals with her primary work as a private-duty nurse. She was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church of Fairmont.

Survivors include her son, Dwight Douglas Hall and his wife Patti of Joppa, Md.; two daughters, Karen Sue Frances Measley and her husband Ross of Bel Air, Md., and Marlene Kay “Katie” Musgrave and her husband Wayne of Fairmont. Five grandchildren also survive, Michelle “Shellye” Poster, Kristin Kaye Helmick, Trista DiPaula and her husband Gene, Jaki Hall and her husband Chris Johnson, and Shaun Michael Thomas Daly and his wife Cathy. Great-grandchildren include Kelsie Brie and Tyler Drew VanderWijst, Jackson “Jack” and Reilly DiPaula, Cole and Grant Hall, and Jackson and Elijah Daly. Plus many loved extended family members.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and seven brothers, Lena Pearl Hartley, Cornelius Brady Currey, Delphia Merel Kester, Paul Boyd Currey, Dennis Currey, Bert Currey, Edith Currey, Opal Lavinia Currey, Ray “Jack” Currey, Mary Ernestine Terney, Delmas Joshua “Bill” Currey and Lee Currey.

Edna Hall’s family especially thanks the St. Barbara’s Nursing Home staff for their kind, compassionate care. Hospice Care of Fairmont is most appreciated for its efforts during Edna’s end-stage care.

Friends may call at the Ford Funeral home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Charles Fancher officiating. Interment will follow at Harmony Grove Cemetery in Taylor County.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
