Suzanne Pyles

Suzanne McCray Pyles, 78, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Fairmont, entered into eternal peace on Dec. 10, 2013.

Born March 22, 1935, Suzanne was the daughter of the late James Olan and Dr. Genevieve (Carpenter) McCray.

Suzanne was a former employee of Owens Illinois Glass Factory and retired from Westinghouse/North American Philips.

Suzanne advocated throughout her lifetime for numerous social causes. She enjoyed the gift of laughter, music, writing stories and sharing them with her family and friends. Especially stories of her cherished cat, YumYum. Suzanne was very creative and possessed a wonderful sense of humor.

She was grateful for the lifelong bonds of friendship she formed with so many people, including work friends and her dearest friends Juanita, Laverna, Mary Ellen, Janice, Sue and Charlotte. Also for her cousins, including Robert and Sally.

Suzanne is survived by her three children, Yvonne Leonard and her husband Jim Lawton, Dartmouth, Mass., Suzette Morgan, Long Island, N.Y., and James Morgan Pyles and his wife Avie, Walhalla, S.C.; along with four grandchildren, Richard, Edward, Leah and Justin.

At the request of Suzanne, her family will meet in West Virginia to hold a private gathering in her honor on a later date. Suzanne would ask a kindness be shared with a stranger or a donation be made to a nursing home or animal shelter.

Condolences may be sent to her family at Morg2s@aol.com.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
