John William Russell, 60, of Fairmont, passed away Wednesday (April 24, 2013) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born in Meadville, Pa., on Aug. 12, 1952, a son of Twila (Saucer) Metz of Fairmont and the late Jack Russell.
John was a maintenance worker by trade, working for the City of Fairmont, the OP Shop and Fairmont General Hospital. He was a member of Everlasting Covenant Church and he enjoyed walking.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by numerous cousins, including Frances Greathouse and her husband James of Bridgeport, Ellen Joyner of Maryland, Rita Debarr of Ohio, Sharon Lopez and her husband Al of California, Deloris Quick and her husband Michael of Virginia, Nicole Jones and her husband David of Virginia, and Amber Leggett of Alaska; a brother-in-law, Bill Leggett of Virginia; an uncle, Bill Leggett of Fredericksburg, Va.; as well as several good friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an aunt, Yvonne Leggett.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Josh Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Simpson Cemetery in Taylor County.
