Grace V. Summers Leeper (Half Goode), 91, entered her heavenly home on Saturday (April 27, 2013) and will be reunited with her beloved “Pappy,” Raymond E. Leeper, who preceded her in death in June of 1994 after 52 years of marriage.
Grace was born on Jan. 9, 1922, to the late Walter and Glenola Goode Summers. She was born and raised in Fairmont and lived most of her life in Tappan Community.
She leaves her children, Linda Coffman and her husband Delano of Lost Creek, Martha “Ginny” Ashcraft and her husband Roger of Fairmont, Patricia “Patty” Graham and her husband Pastor Mike of Fairmont, and Raymond “Eddie” Leeper II and his wife Cindy of Tappan Community; a sister: Martha Lee Alltop of Fairmont; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Carl, George, Victor and Lloyd Summers.
Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved to sew, crochet, attend family gatherings and always looked forward to the Great Reunion.
Grace was Baptist by faith and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Pythian Hope Temple Number 91 for over 50 years.
The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, today from 6-9 p.m. and on Monday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Terry Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at the Janes Memorial Cemetery.
