Ruth Barnes Yeager, 90, passed away Saturday (April 27, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital.
She was born in Marion County on July 26, 1922, a daughter of the late Morgan Bert and Esther Barnes Stanley.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William J. Yeager, in 2001.
Ruth graduated from East Fairmont High School and attended Fairmont State Normal School (Fairmont State University). She left college during World War II to go to Baltimore to work in a factory building airplanes for the war effort. There she met her husband William, whom she married July 9, 1949. She held several different jobs after the war, retiring in 1988 from the City of Baltimore as a payroll clerk. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Baltimore.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Doris Stanley of Columbus, N.C. (recently of Benton’s Ferry Community); and seven nieces and nephews, Janice Falkenstein Denison of Morgantown, Richard Falkenstein of Fairmont, Lynn Stanley Matthews and husband Leslie of Saluda, N.C., Myra Stanley Brinson and husband Jerry of Raleigh, N.C., Eric Falkenstein and wife Elizabeth of Fairmont, Randy Stanley and wife Debbie of Stockton, Md., and Gwenn Stanley Valentine and husband Mike of Sterling, Va. She also is survived by several great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Stanley Falkenstein; and her brother, Robert M. Stanley.
In keeping with her wishes, her body will be cremated, and graveside services will be held in Baltimore at a later date.
