Charles Daniel “Danny” Fisher Sr., 71, of Mannington, died Monday (May 20, 2013) at the residence of his daughter on Whetstone.
He was born Oct. 26, 1941, at Mill Fall, Farmington, the son of the late Cloid Daniel Fisher.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Hazel Eastham Fisher; a son, Charles Daniel Fisher Jr. and his wife Glenda; two daughters, Florine Kay Fisher Harper and her husband Roy of Arnettsville, and Melissa Joy “Baby” Fisher Gifford Michael and her husband Chad of Whetstone; and six grandchildren, Michael Austin Gifford, who was his best friend, Joey Harper, Jamie Harper, Rachael Fisher, Emily Fisher and Mary Fisher.
He also is survived by a brother, David Fisher and his wife Joan of Fairmont; and an aunt, Dot Fisher. Several brothers and sisters-in-law, all of Wetzel County, also survive.
He was preceded in death by a sister, who died in infancy; and an uncle, Clair Fisher.
He retired after nearly 30 years of service from Westinghouse in Fairmont.
He was a U.S. Army veteran. He loved to travel and fish with his grandson, Michael. He graduated from Farmington High School, Class of 1959. He had attended Fairmont State College. His family was his life and will be sadly missed. His in-laws treated him as their own family. He enjoyed watching football and soccer.
Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington from 2:30-8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Nieta Lambert and Pastor Greg Roth officiating. Interment will be at West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown.
