Irene Worrell

There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, for Irene Marie Worrell, 89, who passed away Thursday morning (March 28, 2013) at Willow Brook Christian Village in Delaware, Ohio.

She had been a longtime resident of Austintown and has lived in Delaware the past 11 years.

Irene was born June 17, 1923, in Fairmont, to the late John and Rosa (Palotta) Trotto. She received a diploma from the Keiser State School of Beauty Culture in 1940. She married Anthony V. Worrell on Jan. 31, 1942.

Left behind to remember her beautiful smile and giving heart are her daughter, Lauretta (Stephen) Oldham of Delaware, Ohio; three grandchildren, Justin Oldham of Lewis Center, Ohio, Alyson Oldham of Gilbert, Ariz., and Melissa (Michael) Gordon of Poland, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Marissa and Michael Gordon of Poland, Ohio; her brother, William Trotto of Fairmont; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Worrell; her son, Anthony Worrell Jr.; her brothers, Harry, Victor and Angelo Trotto; and her sisters, Anna Moffa and Antoinette Trotto.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday and again from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., in Boardman.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be sent to: The Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute at West Virginia University, 8 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, WV 26505-3409.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
