Kenneth R. “Kenny” Wolfe, 83, of No. 9 Community, died Sunday (March 31, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital.
He was born May 15, 1929, in Kent, Ohio, son of the late Dayton Wolfe and Freda M. Pigott Wolfe.
He worked as a coal miner for 30 years. He retired from Four States mine in 1984. He was in the Army, and he served in Korea.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bernard “Bo” Wolfe and Stormy Wolfe of Duffy, Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth “Janie” VanGilder and Scott VanGilder of No. 9 Community; two brothers-in-law, Charles “Bill” Mays of Farmington and Delbert Mays of Fairmont; one sister-in-law, Linda Mays of Rachel; five grandchildren, Kendra and Rick Tenley of Sardis, Ohio, Miranda and Mitch Nichols of Alma, Kasey Nething and Tony Gower of Moundsville, Eric and April Wolfe of New Martinsville, and Marty Wolfe of Duffy, Ohio; 10 great-grandchildren, Tessa, Cody and Colton Tenley, Katelyn Locke, Braelyn and Bryce Nichols, Alyssa Nething and Aralynn Kawasaki, and Jaclin and Hunter Wolfe. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Bernice L. “Sis” Wolfe; a son, Kenneth Wolfe Jr.; three brothers, Eugene, Everett and Charles “Junior” Wolfe; and two sisters, Eva Wolfe and Juanita Loudermill.
At the request of the deceased, he has chosen cremation, and there will be no public visitation. A private graveside memorial will be held at a later date at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmington.
