Thomas “Tom” Barrick, 71, of Shinnston, passed away Wednesday (Feb. 26, 2014) at United Hospital Center.
He was born July 8, 1942, in Mill Creek, to the late Joseph Barrick and Florence Paugh Barrick.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Christine Barrick, whom he married Aug. 21, 1987; sons, Joseph Barrick and his wife Tracie of Hagerstown, Md., Chuck Barrick and his wife Amy of Keyser, and Brian Coleman and his wife Ann of Monongah; daughter, Shannah Fonseca of Monongah; grandsons, Thomas Barrick, Jackson Barrick, Matthew Barrick, Max Ross, Jordan Lannon, Dominick Fonseca, Julian Fonseca and Brandon Coleman; granddaughters, Camryn Barrick, Lindsay Miller, Sophia Larry, Whitney Thomas, Raven Thomas and Harley Thomas; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Masters, Maci Thomas and Addison Coleman; and sister, Dorothy Sentz.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Barrick, Bob Barrick, Phil Barrick and Jerry Barrick; and grandson, Cody Raines.
Tom worked as a manager and agent for Nationwide Insurance for 39 years. He was a prominent businessman in Shinnston. Tom was generous to a fault. He loved spending time with his family. Tom also enjoyed Mountaineer football and his football trips with his dear friend Junior Nuzum.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Shinnston, at 1 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Kevin Nuzum officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s honor to the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center at 1 Medical Drive, Morgantown, WV 26506.
