Jeffery Gerau

Jeffery Lynn Gerau, 58, of Fairmont, passed away Friday (March 29, 2013) at the Pierpont Center at Fairmont Campus.

He was born in Fairmont on Aug. 3, 1954, a son of Joan (Crissey) Gerau and the late Don Gerau.

Jeffery was an electrician by trade. He was employed at PW Electric in Fairmont. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the West Virginia University Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed watching westerns and John Wayne movies.

In addition to his mother, he is survived two sons, J.R. Gerau and his wife Tiffany of Bowling Green, Va., and J.P. Gerau of Fairmont; three daughters, Stacy Dawn Gerau of Hedgesville, Amanda Gerau of Pennsylvania and Kristina Gerau of Fairmont; and five grandchildren, Chelsea Bleigh, Zachery Gerau, Tylor Gerau, Shannon Gerau and Nathan Gerau.

Also surviving is a brother, Wade Gerau of California; a sister, Debra Smith of Florida; and several nieces and nephews, including Michael Gerau, Jeremy Gerau, David Gerau, Chad Gerau, Jarrod Gerau, Autumn Gerau, Brandon Settle, Robin Smith and Sarah Smith.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Gerau.

In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, his body will be cremated.

Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, has been entrusted with arrangements.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
