Samuel Joseph Schirripa, 88, of Shinnston, passed away Tuesday (April 9, 2013) at his residence.
He was born April 8, 1925, in Clarksburg, a son of the late Jonathan and Frances Nocera Schirripa.
Mr. Schirripa is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ann Retton Schirripa, whom he married Dec. 27, 1956.
Also surviving are his children, Donna Rush and husband Terry of Waynesburg, Pa., John Schirripa and wife Jacquie of Bridgeport, and Sam Schirripa and wife Carrie of Medina, Ohio; his grandchildren, Michael Schirripa and Mary Schirripa; step-grandchildren, Jimmy Rush and Gina Denslow; as well as his sister, Josephine Nocida of Parkersburg, and his brother, Dominick Schirripa of Kalamazoo, Mich.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his sisters, Grace Oliverio and Mary Larry; his brother, Joseph Schirripa; and his father figure, Jim Rota.
Sam was a graduate of Shinnston High School and was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Shinnston. He was employed 39 years with Fairmont Foods. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday with Father Thomas Dagle as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Shinnston Masonic Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the People’s Hospice at 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
