— Ramona Jeanene May Shuman, 78, of Eldora, passed from this life Monday (Dec. 31, 2012) in her home after a valiant nine-year battle with cancer.

She was born at Hagans on March 7, 1934, a daughter of the late Frank George May and Ann Semk May-Reeder.

Ramona was a member of the Eldora United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women. She retired from the C.W. Stickley Construction Co. as the office manager with 35 years of service and had also worked at Aluminum Products. She enjoyed collecting bells, reading, sewing, watching her afternoon soap operas, traveling and especially spending time with her family.

Mrs. Shuman is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, William Hershel Shuman; her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Mark Lehosit of Fairmont; her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Victoria Shuman of Lancaster, Pa.; three brothers, Jack E. May of Fairmont, Franklin “Jerry” May and his wife Catherine of Morgantown, and Walter J. May and his wife Judy of Clarksburg; four grandchildren, Jason Lehosit and wife Meighen, Heather Lehosit, Ginger Turner and husband Ken, and Matthew Shuman; also seven great-grandchildren, Sophia and Chloe Lehosit, Max and Eli Freeman, Savannah, Cheyanne and Kenny Turner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Barbara May; and a grandson-in-law, Ryan Freeman.

Friends may call at the Eldora United Methodist Church from 4 to 8 p.m. today, noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. to noon Friday. Services will be held in the church at noon Friday with the Rev. Dr. Michael C. Richards officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery.
