Larry ‘Lottie’ Chickerell

— Larry “Lottie” Chickerell, 104, of Fairmont, Koon’s Run community, died Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2013) at the Arbors at Fairmont Nursing Center.

He was born in Fairmont on Nov. 9, 1908, son of the late Joseph and Maria Theresa Forfora Chickerell.

Larry retired from Bethlehem Steel Barrackville mine, and was a member of the UMWA District 31. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed helping his friends with his kindness and helping hand. He was a mentor to those lives he has touched. He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Army.

Larry is survived by his son, Larry John Chickerell of Manassas, Va.; and nieces and nephews, Lena Nagy, Nellie Massacci, Beatrice Pulice, Joe Turney, Jeannie Topardo, Connie and Ronnie Chickerell, Jack Chickerell and spiritual friend Aaron Justice.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Queenie Linford Chickerell, in December 2006, and his siblings, Pasqualina Chickerell Topardo, Mary Chickerell Turney, Nick, Dominick, Phillip and Anthony Chickerell.

Friends may call at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, from 4-8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Deacon David Lester officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
