— Mary Lou Sapp, 77, of Fairmont, passed away Monday (Jan. 28, 2013) at the Hospice of Wichita Falls Center after visiting family in Wichita Falls, Texas.

She was born April 8, 1935, in Wichita Falls, Texas, a daughter of the late William Thomas and Mary Etta (Cupp) Cox.

She was a graduate of Burkburnett High School, a member of the Golden Rod Rebekahs for 50 years, and retired from Valley Healthcare System of Morgantown after 15 years, where she was so proud of working with handicapped children. She also was a volunteer at Fairmont General Hospital for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Vernon Sapp; son, Richard Thomas Sapp; grandson, James Heitkotter; three brothers, Leon, Hubert and Leonard Cox; two sisters, Dorthey Cox and Lucille Dillingham; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harry and Hazel Sapp; one sister-in-law, Vaun Minter; and three brothers-in-law, Jim Griffith, Raymond Hedrick and Danny Pacifico.

She is survived by her son, Robert “Bob” Sapp, and daughters, Debbie (Sapp) Teall, Susie (Sapp) Filius, Linda (Sapp) Toothman and husband Jeff of Fairmont; her brother, Kenneth Cox of Grandfield, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, Angela (Sapp) Burnside and husband Michael, Melissa (Filius) Johnson and husband Brad, Lindsey (Filius) Lapeer and husband Roger, Megan Toothman, and Jeffery “JT” Toothman of Fairmont, Tina (Sapp) Parrott and husband Jarred of Pensacola, Fla., Amy (Filius) Cooper and husband Courtney of Morgantown, Michael Teall and wife Katie of San Diego, Robbie Sapp of Hampton, Va., and Rachel Filius of Quinton, Okla.; as well as nine great-grandchildren, Kiersten and Kylea Lopez, Haidyn Burnside, Blake Johnson, Lucas and Keller Lapeer, and Kayleigh Sapp of Fairmont, and Carter and Colston Cooper of Morgantown.

She also is survived by four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Betty Griffith, Jean Hedrick, Eileen Pacifico, Patty and George Menas; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington from 6-9 p.m. today and from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Fairmont. Mrs. Sapp will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Farmington.
