— Ronald Lee Stephen, 66, of Home Street, Fairmont, passed away Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 12, 2012) in his residence.

He was born Sept. 17, 1946 in Marion County, son of the late Alexander and Pauline V. Billingsley Stephen.

Mr. Stephen was a Methodist by faith. He was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School.

Mr. Stephen served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1964-68. He worked at Fairmont General Hospital as housekeeping supervisor for 12 years. He earlier worked at Pitrolo Pontiac in Fairmont as parts manager with 20 years of service. With his father he also was co-owner of Stephen Construction Co.

Mr. Stephen was involved as a high school and junior high basketball referee for more than 15 years. He also enjoyed coaching Barnes Elementary School basketball for more than 10 years. He enjoyed woodworking and softball, was active in the Wednesday Night Bowling Leagues in both Mid-City and Valley Lanes, and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley J. Robbins Stephen of Bellview Community; two daughters and their husbands, Caprice and Tom Doty of Idamay and Dawn and Heath King of Barrackville; four grandchildren, Alexander Doty of Bellview Community, Timothy “Kirk” Doty of Idamay, Tanner King and Bailey King, both of Barrackville; one great-grandson, Grayson Michael Doty of Bellview Community; and a brother, Donald Eugene and wife Joetta Stephen of Bellview Community.

Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. on Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with Evangelist Steve Snider officiating. A private family committal will follow at a later date in the National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
