Grace A. Fancher

Grace A. Fancher, 97, of Farmington, went to be with the Lord on Friday (Feb. 15, 2013) at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah following an extended illness.

She had made her home in Rachel for the past five years with her son and daughter-in-law. She was born June 30, 1915, in Hyndman, Pa., a daughter of the late Charles Andrew and Nevada Bell Huffman Rexrode.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Fancher, who died in May of 1987.

Grace is survived by a daughter, Donna Grimm of Anaheim, Calif., her son Charles T. Fancher and wife Jeanne of Rachel; five grandchildren, Todd and Kerry Fancher of Rachel, Jeffery Grimm, Huntington Beach, Calif., Jennifer and Wes Harbor, Sparks, Nev., Craig and Tara Fancher, White Hall, and Matthew and Amber Fancher, Fairmont.

Also surviving are a sister, Agnes Whinnie of Mantua, Ohio; a brother, Charles E. Rexrode, Mannington; 11 great-grandchildren, Ciara Moats, Trenton, Trevor, Caleb, Canon, Emily, Jackson, Adah, Tobin, Sydney and Truett Fancher; and several nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Rexrode, and a sister, Freda Bennett; a son-in-law, James Grimm; and one great-grandson, Travis M. Fancher.

Mrs. Fancher was a member of the Farmington Main Street UMC, where she was active since 1945, serving on various committees and active in the United Methodist Women.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed baking various baked goods, including pepperoni rolls, and also enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. She was an avid reader, especially her Bible. She enjoyed spending time with her family, coloring and working word-search puzzles with her great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Sudha Katragadda and staff, Fairmont General Home Health Care, Hospice Care Corp., and Adas and her special friends of the West Farmington UMC who visited faithfully.

The family requests donations be made to the Gideons to further the work of the Kingdom.

Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington from 2-9 p.m. on Sunday, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday with Pastor Charles Fancher officiating. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
