Rev. Leroy Faye

Rev. Leroy Faye, 58, of Fairmont, ascended unto his heavenly Father Tuesday (Feb. 12, 2013) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

He was born Jan. 10, 1955, in Pittsburgh, the son of Anne Cunningham Faye of Pittsburgh and the late Richard Faye I.

Rev. Faye was called to preach the Gospel at the early age of 16 and was ordained two years later at age 18. He was the previous pastor of Miles Chapel CME Church in Fairmont. In addition, he was the pastor of Cleeves Temple CME Church in Pittsburgh, Phillips Chapel CME Church in Fort City, Ohio, and Phillips Chapel CME Church in Steubenville, Ohio.

Following his service to the Christian Methodist Episcopal Conference, he returned to Fairmont to serve as associate minister of the Temple of Christ Church in Fairmont. He then returned to Miles Chapel CME Church, serving as music minister.

Rev. Faye attended many churches in the community. He was the director of his family musical group, which consisted of his children, and played the piano.

He also received his associate degree in accounting from CCAC College in Pennsylvania. Rev. Faye loved to work on cars and was knowledgeable in plumbing and other things regarding repairs on houses.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Rosalie Kay Turner Faye; three sons, Mark Faye and Thomas Faye, both of Fairmont, and Michael Faye of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Sharon Faye and Grace Faye, both of Fairmont; four brothers, Paul Faye of Coraopolis, Pa., Richard Faye Sr. of Arizona, Robert Faye of Pittsburgh, and Ernest Jerome Faye of Washington, D.C.; five sisters, Margaret Ann Faye, Eloise Faye and Francine Hopper, all of Pittsburgh, Denise Faye of Tennessee and Pamela Temko of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren, Makayla Faye of Broadway, Va., and Na’She Faye of Pittsburgh; his mother-in-law, Delia Gator of Pittsburgh; three sisters-in-law, Evangelist Leona Pinnick, Karen Wright and Rubynell Turner; two brothers-in-law, Theodore Turner and D. Arthur Turner Jr.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel Faye; his father-in-law, Arthur Turner Sr.; two brothers-in-law, Robert Turner and Anthony Turner; and one sister-in-law, Ponice Turner.

Friends may call at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 135 Maple Ave., Wednesday from noon-1 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Linda Campbell officiating. Interment will be at Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh, on Thursday at 1 p.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the JG Lampkin Funeral Home.

    Sam Pellerite, 93, of Zephyrhills, Florida (formerly of Village Way, Fairmont), passed away on Wednesday (June 25, 2014) in Simpsonville, South Carolina, where he had been living with his daughter during his battle with cancer. Sam was born on Nov. 13, 1920, in Fairmont, the son of the late Vincent and Maria (Galiano) Pellerite. He was the loving husband of the late Teresa Mae “Terry” (Cirillo) Pellerite.
