Alice Marie Losh Elliott, 83, of Mannington, wife for 62 years to Joseph Ryan Elliott, passed away Sunday (July 21, 2013) at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born March 3, 1930, in Rachel, to the late Odie Alexander and Mary Jane Sefton Losh.
She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mannington, especially with the ladies’ guild, and was a volunteer for 21 years at Fairmont General Hospital, serving as the Mannington representative. She worked side by side with her husband at their company, Mannington Home Center, while raising their six children.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Randy and Linda Elliott of Mannington, John and Nancy Elliott of Morgantown, and Mary Alice “Sis” and Al Murray, Rusty and Mary Jo Elliott, Janie and Pete Antulov, and Patricia and Mike Jenkins, all of Fairmont.
Additionally, she leaves behind her beloved 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; her sister, Stella Howey, who resided with Marie and Joe for 11 years; two brothers, Bud and Gib Losh, both of Bartow, Fla.; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings.
Friends may call at Hutson Funeral Home, 500 E. Main St., Mannington, from 2-9 p.m. today and from 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 4 p.m. today. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Father Douglas B. Sutton as celebrant. As per Marie’s wishes, following cremation, inurnment will be at a later date in Mannington Cemetery.
