Ronald L. Satterfield, 62, of Lavalette, passed away Tuesday (July 23, 2013).
He was born Sept. 30, 1950, in Fairmont. His father, Earl Rayburn Satterfield, preceded him in death along with one brother, David Allen Satterfield.
Survivors include his loving wife, Diane Satterfield of Lavalette; his son, Ryan Satterfield and his wife Rochelle, his mother, Alma Hawkins Satterfield, and his sister, Karen Watkins and her husband Ron, all of Fairmont; and many friends and family too numerous to mention.
Ron served in the U.S. Air Force. During the 1980s and 1990s he worked as the director of representation for the KYOWVA Area Local American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO. After he left his position, he remained committed to protecting and advancing union jobs in this area by leading marches and distributing petitions.
He was also a member of the Harley-Davidson Owner’s Group and enjoyed his time outdoors.
Ron loved people and could often be found talking at the doughnut shop in Ashland during his lunch break. He never met a stranger and was a true friend to many. He will be sorely missed.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home, 10030 Route 152, Wayne. Friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Donations may be made in Ron’s name to: National MS Society, Blue Ridge Chapter, 1020 Carrington Place, Charlottesville, VA 22901; or by visiting www.nationalmssociety.org.
